Commando Cody Sky Marshal of the Universe
Last of the serial episodes (cliffhangers) and for me the first Rocket Man.
It kept me watching year after year.
It looks like the rocket was kept right here at the Vasquez Rocks.
A location just out side of Los Angles and short of Lancaster.
As hard as it may be to believe this ship could travel to other star systems. Oh ya you say! Just read on.
In Sky Marshal of the Universe episode Sun Destroyers, Commando Cody announces he must travel to M27 (The Dumbbell Nebula M27) a near by star system just west of here. Love it, "just west of here". It’s great fun. I still love it.
This is an exception to the rule drawing. I have a Herb Deeks model (Monsters in Motion See Links) of this ship and I used it for size, scale and rendering design. Here is a series of Commando Cody's ship taking off from the Vasquez Rocks, then into low orbit as she picks up speed for the Moon destination. Skimming over the mountaintops before sliding to soft landing. Anyone besides me like the smoke rising from the rocket after stopping?

Commando Cody Sky Marshal of the Universe
I didnít think I would enjoy putting together Codyís ship.
Just too small, too much living area, not enough room for life support area.
But when I was all done I thought it came out pretty believable.
The rocket, like the Rocky Joneís OrbitJet ,had no windows, two viewers one at the pilots side, and a smaller viewer on the copilot station.
Behind the Pilot is the Coffee Machine / refrigerator, radar system (with two scopes).
Behind that is the weapons store and bombing station.
Starting behind the Copilot are the ship stores, and Radio.
The nose holds the oxygen, then water, air vents recycling motors and scrubbers.
The main computer is mounted against the first hull and behind the main controls.
The electrical conduit is redundant along each wall. Backup computers and electrical
system are placed under the floor.
An air lock that is functional, potty and hand washer is behind the 2nd wall. Behind the
air lock is the atomic engines, fuel and coolers.
Now what I didnít account for was the dyna-drive. Mentioned in the Sun Destroyers was the rockets
ability to travel at high speeds. Nothing else mentioned.
Technical Overview:
Single stage Interplanetary Vehicle, Single Titanium/Steel hull, Atomic powered.
Length: 30 feet
Diameter: 10 feet
Weight: 60 tons
Take off Thrust: 350k lbs.
Sustained Thrust: 60k lbs.
Engines: Cody Technologies Atomic linear injection (CT-105LI-5). Thrust is controlled via
five circular mounted aerospike rocket engines, Nitrogen cooled.
Weapons: Cody Technologies Burst-Mode particle ray system (CT-12-OWS). Single weapon
mounted in the nose. Power is supplied directly from the engines via conduits under the floor.
Single particle burst with a 15 to 20 second recharge required between firings. Weapon is
highly effective in space. Range in the atmosphere is greatly reduced.
No defense systems.
